Through your generous support at these events, we have already raised over a quarter of a million pounds for our welfare work.
For 21 years the Legion has worked closely with the Seniors Golf Association to organise Poppy Appeal Golf Classics at Golf Clubs around the country. We aim to engage all club members to raise money for the Poppy Appeal, celebrated with souvenirs, medals and lots of fun.
The Poppy Appeal Golf Classic is a chance for Golf Clubs around the country to hold a day, or an autumn monthly medal, in aid of the Poppy Appeal. Members can decide if it’s the whole club, the seniors’ section, ladies' section or whoever wants to take part!
For 2020 we are launching a very special golf challenge to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day (8 May) and VJ Day (15 August).
The idea is simple - we ask clubs to hold a golf event. Many are also including a street party style lunch afterwards, with dancing, period dress and hopefully many medals on display.
Every player will receive a specially designed commemorative ball-marker, and the winner(s) in each club will receive one of our superb gold medals.
Players are asked to make a donation towards The Royal British Legion, with the minimum amount generally being £5.
We also have a special flag for one of your greens, which is available for a small donation of £20 towards the cost.
The challenge can be played in May or August on one day, over a weekend, or even over a longer period of a week. Many Clubs will also continue to play Poppy Golf in November as normal.
Thank you for your generous support.
Your golf club can also get involved in our D-Day themed quiz night, with some tricky golf questions thrown in. We’ll send you 30 questions (and answers) to help you host your own quiz. Donations to The Royal British Legion will also be greatly appreciated.
